Hey guys, i have a AMD dual graphics system. Here are my specs:
AMD A8-3870k black edition APU @3.0 GHz
8GB RAM
ASUS F1A55-M LX PLUS motherboard
XFX AMD Radeon 6670 DDR5 graphics card

I know that my APU is overclockable but the thing is i am new to overclocking and i don't know how and how much to overclock it.Moreover i don't have any cooler or something in my system. So is overclocking my APU to 3.8 GHz harmful?
Please help me out guys because i want to get the best out of my system!!!

be careful using the stock cooler. i would slowly start increasing the multiplier and bump the fsb up a hair. do it in steps and monitor the temps under load.

the only thing is you dont want to run to hot which could lead to you frying something. esp bumping it up almost 1ghz. try 3.2 3.4 etc until your find the limit of your stock cooler but it probably wont be able to reach that high safely with that cooler.

also when overclocking you will need to bump up the vcore a hair to keep everything stable. higher voltage = higher temps and higher likely hood of killing your apu. only need small bumps in voltage

Your APU came with OC software from AMD, use that at first and go up gradually to find what works the best for you.

I run my a8-3870k at 3500ghz with a coolermaster TX3 evo, and on the stock cooler I ran it at 3200ghz with no problems. Using the AMD overclock software I used the prefrences and moved the slider to 9 to obtain a steady OC.
