For starters, yes, I intend to use this as a server board. No gaming, but could possibly be used with a virtual desktop as a work station. Primary function is a VM host (likely hyper-V).

I have read the entire technical product specifications here.

I intend to use the full 32GB capacity [4x8gb]. I am aware of the requirement of unbuffered ECC detailed in the product specs with an interesting post intel communities here.

Here I learned that the C204 chipset does not support CPUs with integrated graphics/ Intel HD graphics. so I will be using the E3-1200 V2 non integrated graphics (non 05). That's kind of a bummer.

My requirements were:

  • At least 32 GB RAM
Supports V2 out of the box [I read several other mobos requiring a sandy bridge install first to upgrade the BIOS and then the ivy bridge install...can you imagine!? :heink:]
    Standard ATX
    Dual NIC
Had some good customer feedback about using it in my particular case [Supermicro 2U]

The things I'm still uncertain are aspects:

NIC Aggregation: in the technical specs they actually list the NICs as 2 separate controllers. I have another server where this prevented me from aggregating the 2 ports. Does anyone know about this?

RAID Support: while the Newegg details list RAID support, i'm not seeing it within the tech specs which suggests that you need an optional RAID module. The modules listed are AXXRMS2AF040, AXXRMS2LL040, and AXX4SASMOD. All 3 suggest an 'entry-level' market and simply access the onboard LSI based IO controller. It screams software-based RAID.

Server 2012 Support: I have no idea on how to find this information.

I am open to other suggestions if they meet my requirements and are in the ball park price range of $200-$250 USD. I looked at several supermicro boards but was turned away for several reasons.

Anyone with first hand experience with this board?
