Hi guys,

Im going crazy over the mass of information here after having read dozens of threads im even more confused about what to choose. So i really hope that any of you skilled HTPC users/builders can guide me in the right direction.

Untill a few days ago i thought that a Mac Mini 2,3ghz i5 was THE solution - but its over my budget - and im afraid that it might not suit my needs anyway - then consideres ASRock Ion 3d & Zotac - now leaning towards building my own...

Approximate Purchase Date: now
Budget Range: £250-£350 ($400-500)
System Usage:

  • - Play 3D Blu Ray ISOs (1080p60 per eye 3D) & mkvs
    - Stream 3D & HD content from the web (eg Netflix HD)
    - Play Dolby & DTS via my AVR
    - Run windows 7 (for normal use as e.g. MS office & web browsing)
    - 2 HDDs - Fast boot up time thus large storage (Thinking 64gb SSD for OS + 1-2TB for storage)
    - Low noise level
    - IR reciver (to work with my logitech harmony touch)
    - Power on via remote (nice to but not a must)
    - Both audio & video running through HDMI 1.4a to my AVR (video signal bypassed to my tv)
    - No need for wifi (will be ethernet powered)
    - No optical drive needed

Are you buying a monitor: No
Do you need to buy OS: No
Preferred Website(s) for Parts: Amazon.co.uk
Location: Denmark (will shop from UK or worldwide)
Parts Preferences: None
Overclocking: No
SLI or Crossfire: No
Your Monitor Resolution: Full HD 3D tv

Is this possible within the price range? and what (system/parts) will you reccomend?

Id really appreciate your help

Christian

You might be better off with a pre-built if youre using it for very casual, general needs

The pros @ AVS have been objective and run a battery of test and for 3D Blu Ray playback on IGP an A6 Trinity or better is the best value but think we can go with an A8 and for me if u gonna put the HTPC to S3 sleep, a SSD is really not required ^^
