Hey There,

Wanted to build a good gaming PC but realized my budget's not gonna be enough for it, so need some expert advice if this isn't going to ruin the whole purpose of the build.

I'm from India and the prices of the components are pretty high here :( Have tried putting together the shortlisted components in INR (Rupees) along with the link to the products:

Processor: Intel i3 3220 - (Rs. 7236) http://tinyurl.com/d9fulyu
MOBO: ASRock H77 Pro4 - (Rs. 6534) http://tinyurl.com/ck2ly8n
Graphics Card: Gigabyte AMD/ATI GV-R7850OC-2GD - (Rs. 14373) http://tinyurl.com/btomz3c
Cabinet: Cooler Master HAF912 Combat (RS.4340) - http://tinyurl.com/cemrv76
RAM: Corsair Vengeance 8GB DDR3 1600MHz (Rs.4195) - http://tinyurl.com/cnb76l7
PSU: Seasonic Eco Series 600W Rs. 4055 - http://tinyurl.com/bqwfszl
Keyboard, Mouse, DVD drive - would buy among the cheap & best around.

I already have a 160GB 7200 rpm old HDD (temporary) which should suffice for installing games only. I'd be using my TV as the monitor (1080p).

Please note:
1. The sole purpose of putting this PC is gaming
2. I've already overshot the budget by including the 7850 - can alter the budget max by 5-8%
3. Not planning to upgrade the system in near future so crossfire & overclocking looks out of reach now

Does this configuration/combination look good? I'm hoping everything is in sync - let me know if it's not!

Any suggestions would be very much appreciated!

Cheers,
Kunal

Well, locally the i5-3350P is costing about 50% more than the i3-3220. Would be difficult to include that!

Budget - This build in INR costs about 40000 bucks. Max buffer another 5%!
Cheers!

You know you actually might be better off going with AMD on a tight budget. Normally I recommend Intel because every benchmark out there proves that Intel is better for gaming, but on a tight budget the FX-6300 retails in India for ₹ 7300 (USD $133.99) where the i5-3470 retails for ₹ 11685 (USD $214.41). That might be a better bet.

You need to check your old hard drive to make sure it has SATA, or if it is IDE.

If you want to save about 300 Rupees ($5 Canadian) pick the i3-3210 instead of the i3-3220 you currently have. I know it's a very minor difference, but if you're already over budget, it might help a little.

Differences between the two
3220 is 3.3GHz base clock
3210 is 3.2GHz base clock

I don't think there are any other differences. The 3220 might be higher binned, but you won't be OCing, so that doesn't matter at all.

If there are other differences I don't know about, please tell me. :p

You can save 700-900 Rupees (less than $20 Canadian) if you get either a 1 fan version, or a 1GB version. I don't think it's worse the cutting, but it is an option.

Is it possible to buy from an international website, pay the duty, and still save money?

I too think picking an AMD build might be a smart move.

Not sure if you referred to US pricing, On the websites here, I see FX-8320 is retailing for lesser than that of FX-6300 & i5-3470.

HDD shouldn't be an issue, my bro got two of them, one is a pretty recent one, my gut feel, it would have sata ports. Would check today, thanks for pointing out, anyway!

3220 vs 3210 - several benchmarks I saw, had a lot of difference in the performance, so finalized on 3220.

Wouldn't 1 GB be insufficient? Pricing difference hardly looks like 400 bucks. I can surely afford that if the GBs matter. :)

Also, never tried buying from International websites, generally shipping costs are too high to this part of the world for it to be effective.

I'm very much ready to switch to AMD, it was only after every other websites bashing the AMDs that I decided to go with i3-3220. Though, there's a catch here - the only decent AMD that retails here below i3-3220 is FX-4100. (I'm considering the FX series & A10-5800K).

No buy local. I don't know what the laws regarding customs require in India but I'd do some research before buying internationally.

No - get the FX-6300. You will hate life gaming on an A10, it's really meant for any sort of hardcore gaming. The site I linked to has it at a reasonably affordable rate. Maybe try this for a full system:

Case: Corsair Carbide 200R - ₹ 3595
PSU: Seasonic S12 II 520W - ₹ 3930
Motherboard: Asus M5A97TD LE Socket AM3+ - ₹ 5410
CPU: 3.3GHz AMD FX-6300 - ₹ 7300
RAM: 8GB G.Skill Ripjaw X DDR3 1600MHz 1.5V - ₹ 4710
Video Card: Sapphire Radeon HD 7850 - ₹ 14830
Optical: Lite On DVD Burner - ₹ 995

Total: ₹ 41125 (USD $754.63)

I went a little bit over budget but not much, that should be a killer system.

Something doesn't like right here! The website above doesn't list a FX-6300 or at least I can't find it. The link you gave takes me to FX-6100, which is listed at Rs. 7655. :??:

In fact, I can hardly find 6300 listed anywhere! Only available on ebay (cheapest deal is from the US at Rs.11,000 Link

I went a little bit over budget but not much, that should be a killer system.

Thanks for redoing the configuration! Well, you included an optical drive, which I thought of adding later - that overshot the budget. :) Jokes apart, if I could get the configuration you mentioned, I should be happy! Moreover, frankly speaking, the budget is not constraint from cash perspective but from a 'value' perspective. Don't want to spend too much on a system which would be used only for gaming - I would hardly have two hours a day. So, INR 40k is more of a psychological barrier than a financial one! Having said that, I should be able to play games on it though! :)

That is strange, I checked four stores from my database, not a single one had the 6300. Oh well the 6100 - even though it's a bit older - will still provide what you need.

Thanks!

I don't really understand this too well, so asking - the MoBo you suggested doesn't mention PCI express 3.0, whereas the HD 7850 has it as a standard. Do these go well?

Another question, the Cabinet has two fans, you suggest adding more fans or CPU cooler? Adding fans or cooler might again affect the budget! :(
