System making clicking noise during startup

Hey guys,

So the system I built a while back has been treating me well for the most part, but I have recently encountered a slightly disconcerting noise that begins whenever I turn on the computer, and seems to go away completely once everything is loaded up.

The best way I can describe it is a rapid clicking noise (maybe 2 clicks per second). It sounds roughly like a wire is brushing up against one of the fans, although I can not see any signs of this through the case window.

I've tried to pinpoint the source of the noise with little luck. It could be anywhere in the computer. I'm guessing it's my hard drive, as it's the only component in my computer that was reused from my old system, making it 4 years old.

I may also be the GPU, as the noise sometimes sounds like it's coming from there.

I'm concerned that I may have messed something up last time I dusted the computer. I was very careful, but I did take out the GPU and CPU cooling fan to get into the nooks and crannies.

I have been monitoring temperature, and everything is totally normal in that regard.

What could this be?

I would download and run the disk checking software from your drive manufacture.
