Hello

Im often seeing 80% gpu usage in skyrim with GTX680 and 3570k @ 3.8GHz

What Overclock to see 100% GPU utilization?

Or should I get 3770k?

update : I get 65 fps need atleast 80 fps on 85HZ monitor 720p

Cheers

Um no Overclocking will defiantly help as skyrim is quite a cpu dependent game, I would opt to just overclock you 3570k to 4.5 instead of getting a 3770k. It would be cheaper to buy a good after market cooler then it would be to buy a new 3770k when u have a 3570k which is just as good for gaming.

Thats the most ignorant statement on this forum i have seen in along time, unless he had vsynch enabled which he didnt as he would have a 60 fps limit, his gpu usage should be at 100% when gaming. Im guessing you use an AMD processor and are quite used of being bottlnecked

"Im guessing you use an AMD processor and are quite used of being bottlnecked" is another very ignorant statement. Yay for hypocrisy!

As for OP, overclock your i5, and you will probably be able to use your GPU 100%. Just keep bumping the clocks until you see your GPU at 100%. Read up on some overclocking guides as well.

+1 Just listen to this guy, overclock your i5 and you will see a decent fps jump.

As for the other poster calling the 2nd post ignorant to than rattle off some ignorance, ahhh ignorance is bliss. LOL

LOL, did you even read my sig... I never reach 100%.

and yes, overclocking will help. though i never understood why someone would WANT 100%GPU useage. If you have 60FPS, its playable and considered acceptable. besides, having more GPU usage available would avoid you losing frames to a sudden increase in requirements. never reaching 100% is good, cause you have a decent amount of overhead should the need arise.

(lol, hypocrites)

What voltage? What were you testing your overclock with?

I know its a good overclock when I hear other peoples story stuck @ 4.2GHz but theres also people getting 4.5GHz+
