This was voted best intel budget build.

http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/toms-hardware-bestc...

Will this run all current games at a reasonable settings or even mostly high? How far into the future will this computer be capable of running most games on average settings?

Trying to get my buddy into a decent system with a simple pick list that is solid and have a 3 years of gamable life.

Thanks,

Dan

The 7850 should be able to play most games at low for another 4-5 years unless something major happens, but currently it can't play games like crysis 3 and far cry 3 at very high at a decent frame rate so it will have trouble playing games in about 3 years at high settings.

So this is a good mid range gaming computer. If he wants to run at super high level he can upgrade the graphics card and he would be good for some time.

Thanks!

Yes, although in the near future he will want to upgrade that Pentium processor to a Core series one.

When budget matters, an i3.

But if the budget atm is REALLY tight, stick with the pentium until you can get the money to get a better one. The motherboard will let you upgrade as high as an i7 I believe, so you have time :p

Thanks for the info!

Last question. Is the 450watts enough? Seems low to me but I usually overpower. Will it be enough for the i3?

Ok looked up i3's there are a ton which one? I want to give him as much info as I can on his decisions.

While that is most certainly a better processor, it is also 25$ more than the cheapest i3, and 75$ more than that pentium.

Ultimately it is up to him/his friend to choose what they can afford.

LOL! Don't be silly. It will last 4 years 15 days 10 hours 30 minutes and 2.2324353 seconds.
Just divide the serial number by the meaning of life and use logarithms to factor out pi.

Really appreciate all the feedback and help. You have been helpful. He wants budget but does not want to skimp in a silly place. I call it best bang for buck. I am going to recommend the pentium.

Thanks again!
