I oc'ed my 965be to 4ghz today and its been running pretty stable. I haven't had a chance to do a 2hr+ Prime 95 test yet, but i will do that tonight. I just have a few questions/concerns since this is only my second overclock, and my most extreme one. I have attached 2 pictures below:

Idle

Stress Test

The first one is my cpu running during idle temps stay around 40c-45c. Under full load they havent gone past 57c on a 15min Prime 95 blend test.

Here are my question:
1.) Are these temp ranges normal for this OC.

2.) When i OC with AMD Overdrive i can get it to 4ghz, but the difference is that when the CPU is at idle the frequency displayed on Core Temp and CPUID go as low as 800mhz and all the way to 4000mhz when testing/using the CPU. When i OC'ed it from the BIOS, the CPU is stuck at 4Ghz. Is there any way to change this with BIOS? Because with it, my core temps are usually between 28c-33c in idle/moderate use.

Also here are my specs:
AMD 965 BE
Kingston HyperX Blue (4x2gb=8gb)
Corsair tx750m
Corsair Hydro h80i
Crappy old Nvidia card at the moment
and i have 2 side fans spinning at 1000rpm.
(I will be installing a fan at the front of the case once i get my 7950)

Solution
Make sure when OCing with bios (which is the recommended way) that CnQ = Cool and Quiet is enabled. This allows for the cpu to drop the frequency and voltage and helps with idle temps.

1. when OCing turn off CnQ to get your stable OC then turn it on and retest for stability.
2. Don't use a program to OC as the program can cause crashes itself and makes it harder to find out why.
3 on a Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO cooler @4.042 @ 1.52V My max temps are 55C using Intel Burn test for 2 hours.

Edit: my ambient temp is 68F - 20C

Awesome! thanks alot. Idle temps down to 28-31c. Ended up downclocking to 3.8 so i can keep the loud ass h80i fans on quiet mode with decent cooling.
