Would it be possible to sufficiently cool an OC'd i5-3570k with only 100mm vertical space?

Any suggestions on coolers? I've been throwing around ideas for a small form factor gaming/HTPC in my head but my knowledge on this kind of thing is not what you would call extensive. Ideally I'd like to be able to play stuff like Crysis 3 on my HDTV at High(ish?) end levels at the same time as not having a tower next to my TV.

No budget constraints really, as I said I'm just playing with ideas.

Or if you know of a SFF factor case that would allow more cooling space that also is welcome, I'd love to know. Pretty much anything SFF that would allow me to play Crysis 3 well on my TV at the same time as having a max displacement of, say, 30L.

Help me put an image to the idea please.

So yeah, don't be shy, sound off!

Cost wise, it's really up to what kind of components you want in it.

Here's a build I made with with all the bells and whistles. Everything is from Newegg on here.

CPU: Intel Core i5-3570K 3.4GHz Quad-Core Processor ($219.99 @ Newegg)
CPU Cooler: Cooler Master Seidon 120M 86.2 CFM Liquid CPU Cooler ($69.99 @ Newegg)
Motherboard: ASRock Z77E-ITX Mini ITX LGA1155 Motherboard ($147.55 @ Newegg)

Cool. Ok so what about cases? what's the smallest case you could get this kind of thing into:

CPU: i5-3570k
Cooler: Noctua NH-L12/C14
GPU: an 11"x2" graphics card like an HD 7970
RAM: 2 sticks of lo profile like this: http://

All able to be OC'd

You could do a build with the Coolermaster Elite 120:

and cool the CPU with a self contained liquid cooling system such as:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835103179

I'm pretty sure you could get a better overclock and overall better temps using this setup as opposed to air cooling in such a tight space.

Heres what it looks like before:

and here's a rough idea of what it would look like after with the cooler installed. You could deal with the messy cables by using a fully modular PSU.

You would have to remove the hard drive storage rack and mount a drive somewhere else in the case. It looks like that person mounted it directly behind the cooler somehow.

That other side has room for a fairly long 2 slot video card.

Lol, that thing is ghetto, I like it. If it's got a case over all the wires, who cares? Awesome answer man, exactly what I was after. Any idea of rough costs?

Stuff it has that you could downgrade to save money if you wanted:

GTx 660 TI - I included this because its a well rounded card. I went with this model because it has the blower type cooler that exhausts the heat out of the case which is good for the lack of airflow in this case. You could definitely get by with less (or more) though if you needed to.

EDIT: Didn't see what you said about a 7970. One should definitely fit in there. Again, I would go for the blower design though.

A 670 or 680 might be a better option though as they tend to generate less heat:

Or if you really wanted to max Crisis, we could just go all out and toss a Titan in there lol. It would fit and should run cool enough. Might have to up the PSU a little.

250 GB Samsung SSD - It's small and fast. I'm not sure how much storage you need or if you would rather have a mechanical drive.

Blu-Ray Drive - I wasn't sure if you would use this or not given its an HTPC build.

The rest is pretty necessary. Went with a really nice Seasonic modular PSU to save space and power. Low profile RAM so there are no conflicts with the heat spreader or wires.

Dude, you are the best answerer ever. End of. Fantastic. You are to be chosen solution. Thanks for puttin in the effort, much appreciated, above and beyond what I expected, I wax effusive in praise of you. Is there a way I could like "friend" you on Tom's Hardware?

Anyways, thanks for entertaining my notions. Maybe one day I'll actually have the time and money to try something like this out. On the GPU thing tho, my main reason for going with AMD is coz they come with the free games.

The Solution you are.
