7850 vs 660

I am currently putting together a budget gaming rig. I was originally going to get a 7850 2gb, but I noticed on newegg I could get a 660 for $5 more. Also the CPU is a AMD Phenom II x4 965 3.4 ghz, So I want to avoid bottleneck.

which is better? and would I get any bottleneck with the 660?

The 7850 is more on par with the GTX 650 Ti Boost. The GTX 660 is 10-15% faster than the 7850. It's unlikely that you would get a bottleneck using one of these entry level/mid-range cards on your system. $5 is definitely worth it to get the GTX 660, but the 7850 comes with two free games.

get the 7800. I found on a lesser processor the 660 gets cpu bound for some reason. ( depending on the game and it's settings )

EVGA 660 without any doubt with that kind of deal. It's quite faster card. It's closer to 7870 than to 7850.

the 660 on stock on average will perform better than the 7850. If you magically get your hands on a 7850 that overclocks really well(1200 mhz+) then it starts to shine more, but thats a gamble statement. neither card will bottleneck the 965be

regardless, the 660 IMO at this price difference is a better choice
