These are my processor choices for a T430 laptop. Will use for music recording/editing and some video editing, no serious gaming. Which would be most efficient processing v. power consumption? I know there have been fan issues and I don't want more processor than needed. Thanks!

See if your video editing software supports multiple cores, some like adobe will support 6-8 cores which really speeds up compiling time. More cores the better when it comes to encoding/trans-coding media, but only if your tools support it. Go for the most cores you can get. That being said, every CPU you said is only 2 cores w/ 2 hyper-thread cores and you will see little difference between 3230 (2.6 Ghz) and the 3380 (2.9 Ghz).

Thanks, I was hoping to hear that the performance difference would be slight, especially at $100 more in price.

Pretty much, I'm looking for solid, portable, good battery life. Cpu power was not my highest priority, but I did want to make sure I was getting the best power for the $ out of my options in the t430, thanks.

I agree, but t430 only offers dual core i7 and it's not worth it from what I've read. Thanks for reply.
