I have an Intel Pentium G860 and I am getting 80-100% CPU usage while playing Diablo 3. Should it be using that much CPU or do I have a defective CPU?

Build:
Asrock P67 Extreme4
Intel Pentium G860
OCZ 750W
MSI AMD 7850
4GB GSkill 1600 RAM
WD Green Drive 320GB

Being a very low end Dual-Core cpu, that is nothing to worry about just means your using a lot of your CPU time playing that game, if you keep hitting the 100% marker all the time on the CPU perhaps you should look at an i3 or i5 upgrade

You're getting bottlenecked by your CPU. Bottlenecking is when one component won't let the other run at its full potential. And your CPU is preventing your GPU to run at it's full potential.
- The GPU is much better than the CPU.

You can solve this by replacing your CPU with a better CPU. An i5 preferably: i5-3330, i5-3350 i5-3470, i5-3550, i5-3570 or i5-3570k is my recommendation. These CPUs support your motherboard.

check the gpu usage in gpuz software.

diablo 3 will not make bottlecneck your cpu at all as it is not cpu demanding game.

Are you sure? Blizzard games tend to be more CPU dependent than GPU.

Either your GPU or GPU should be running close to 100% when gaming and in a well balanced build both. If your game play is smooth don't worry about it.

My main build is a i5 3570K and 7950 and I just replaced my 7850 with the 7950, that is why I am using the 7850 with the G860, which is my backup PC. I haven't used a low end CPU in a while, but when I had a AMD Phenom II 550 which is similar to the G860, I never had very high CPU usage while playing Blizzard games.

I guess Diablo 3 is just more CPU dependent than I thought it would be. Not going to upgrade to a higher CPU as this is just a backup PC.

Unless you do what I do and upgrade the backup after upgrading your main. :p

this might be a little out of the main problem but will g860 bottleneck 7750 gddr5?

No, 7750 is on the low end of recommended graphics cards. I doubt even a Core 2 would bottleneck with a 7750.

Even the GT 240 in my file server handles D3. The CPU might be holding him back some, though. I have never played D3 with anything less than an i5 dual core and GT 540M in my laptop.

hmm who knows even o am not played it,but the reccommended system requirements of d3 is core 2 duo e6660@2.6ghz which is way way slower than g860.

@op try other games
