I know it a bit more $ than your original build but the difference is astronomical. You will be able to play all the newest games and most at high settings.

CPU AMD FX-6300 3.5GHz 6-Core $135.45
Motherboard ASRock 970 Extreme3 ATX AM3+ $74.99
Memory Corsair Vengeance 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 $52.00
Storage Western Digital Caviar Blue 500GB 3.5" 7200RPM $59.99
Video Card Asus Radeon HD 7850 1GB $159.99
Case Cooler Master Elite 430 ATX Mid Tower $29.99
Power Supply Corsair 500W ATX12V $49.99

Total: $562.40

Sorry to break it to you but...

You will not be able to be able to play most games on high let alone ultra with a 7770

You case and PSU are probably garbage at that price, and your PSU is the last thing you want to skimp on.

Why 8x1 RAM? Go 4x2.

The FX-6300 is much better than the 4100 and for not much more.

Hmm. thats pretty dissapointing, the psu and case are part of a sale i found from a local supplier.

Whats a good substitute for the 7770 ( remembering i have a limited budget) so something around that price range. In all honesty after some research i was SURE that the 7770 was one of the best i could get for that price.

4 X 2 it is. no arguments there.

as for the CPU i was unsure if the 6300 was better for gaming as i had heard it was better on the grounds that it was for use of multitasking. but ill see what i can do.

7850 is a big step up in price. Is it really worth it? I've managed to source a case from a friend for free so now I can buy a good psu for it :). That ram is so cheap but I live in Australia so shipping with Amazon is pretty unlikely. The fx 6300 looks like a great idea for an extra ten dollars. Thanks for your help. Really appreciate it! I :)

Yes the 7850 is an amazing card for the money for the price.

Amazon ships international, don't know how much it costs though.
