Solution
I say go for the AMD. You'll save money on the processor which trades blows with the 3570K (beats it in heavily multithreaded programs/games) and you'll save even more money on the AMD motherboard. Even if the motherboards are the same in terms of features (The Pro3 Gen3 and the 970 Pro3, for example), you'll pay more for the same.

Before saying anything, then I would like you to take a look at this image:

The picture speaks for itself, and no matter how much people want to argue about getting an AMD FX 8350 CPU and how it is "more than capable", then it is not the truth.

AMD FX 8350 is not worth your money.

An i5-3570k will perform more or less the same as an i7-3770k, however with the latest titles as Crysis 3, which actually utilize hyperthreading and will increase performance. So it depends on how much you can afford and want to spend.

The i7-3770k is the best ivy-bridge CPU you can get for gaming, no doubt. My vote and recommendation remain at the i7 system.

If your on a budget go for AMD. If you want the best performance possible and don't mind paying for it go Intel. That's normally what it comes down to.

@Lost Average game performance?

Ever heard of Intel's software compilers that intentionally cripple AMD processors for no reason other than it being a competitor's CPU? I'm 100% certain that plays a factor in that graph.
