I need some advice here. I'm not a computer expert but know a little and have learned a little more, already, from searching the threads here. Last night, we had a lightning strike. when the power came back on, my pc was dead - no lights, beep or anything. It was connected to a surge protector, and everything else on the protector is fine (printer, router and monitor). I already replaced the PSU, and still nothing at all. I disconnected the DVD drive and HDD and took out all but one stick of RAM and still nothing that way. Is this most likely a motherboard? I could not find any visible damage anywhere.

I replaced the power cable along with the PSU. I'm not sure how to check the fuses on the surge protector, but it is working (supplying power) with other components.

Well then Going by the logic of the power comes in from the mains>surge protector>power cable>power supply>motherboard> components the next one to test is the motherboard do you have a spare motherboard that you can use?

Sometimes when a power surge happens you need to take out the 24 pin power cable then drain the pc of power by holding the power button for 30 seconds and then re plug in the 24 pin and try power it on.

Unfortunately, I don't have a spare MB, unless I could "rob" one from the computer at my office. That one, however, is intel and this is AMD so I wouldn't be able to test the CPU with it. I guess if I had MB and CPU I could use it to test all other components?
