Strange Distortion on TV used as a monitor with GTX 680.

I have a strange one for the community. Recently, I did a complete overhaul on my computer upgrading pretty much all the guts. This upgrade included moving from GTX 580 to GTX 680.

Everything went well with installations but I noticed some strange distortion on the edges of Windows 7's...windows. It looked as if the background image was affecting the borders of some of the windows. I really don't know how to describe it other than a distortion on the border of the window. I noticed that it would bleed through the window too and affect the scroll bar.

I've only noticed the problem with the 314.22 drivers because that was what was available during the installation.

OK, so now on to the really strange part. I noticed that if I adjusted the noise reduction on the TV that I'm using as a monitor, the distortion would go away...but, unfortunately, it returns. Again, I adjusted the noise reduction, it dissapeared, but, again, returned. A few days later, I noticed the screen really went haywire and then, boom, black screen and the dreaded 'driver stopped responding, but recovered successfully' error...(or an error close to it). I seem to think that THAT issue was due to a Flash player problem though.

So, out came the card and I started up the RMA procedure and, woosh (like the sound effects? Ok, I'll stop), the card is now in the hands of the UPS men on it's way to Newegg. In the meantime, I reinstalled the GTX 580 and everything seems to be fine. I haven't noticed any distortion on the TV. So, I chalked it up to being the card.

As of today, I purchased another GTX 680 at a local store, figuring, while I wait for the other to be exchanged I can slip in another card and look at SLI in the future. Well, grrr, it's doing the exact same thing the other 680 was doing.

Also, I forgot to mention that if I swap out the TV for another computer monitor there doesn't seem to be an issue at all.

My confusion lies with this; Why does the 680 affect the TV in that way but the 580 does not? Also, why does the noise reduction setting on the TV fix the problem, albeit, temporarily?

I hope I made that understandable. It's 8:30, I just dropped in at work, and I feel as though someone snuck in my room last night and started pounding me with a baseball bat.

Hey Wanderer. Yes, same cable. I'm going to try another TV when I get home this afternoon just to confirm that it's not affecting all TVs. Although, using an actual computer monitor proved to work fine.

Yeah, tried messing with the drivers to see if it were those, but that didn't change anything. I went as far as wiping windows and upgrading from win7 to 8 to see if that made a difference...but, alas, the problem remains.

I really believe it's just the TV telling me to put it out of it's misery. I'm having other issues with the TV alone. It seems to operate when it feels like operating.

I'll test out another TV that I own to confirm that theory and I'll report back in the event someone stumbles upon this post.
