laptop only works when connected to router

I pulled out my OLD laptop and connected it to my wireless and it says its connected but i cant get connected to anything it says its unable to connect if i try to search or jump on google but i can plug it in to my router and laptop connects please help, i just promised my son he would have his on laptop in his room when he got hm from school he is 9 i dont break promises

Check you WiFi network connection settings - IPv4 settings - check ALL to Auto
