I have renamed this thread in a hope to get some reads 
I currently have a good old 5870(for 4 years old, it has served VERY well) video card and am looking into retiring the card(it will move into another system).
Anyway, one thing I have noticed with this card was that even when gaming opening a video(powerDVD/youtube/anything) would cause the card to drop clocks to 400mhz(video clocks) and stay until the video is closed. Now the 5870 has been more then powerful enough for this to not be too much of an issue with older games and I first actually noticed this with my 5770 that was in my media center(it had a noticeable drop in performance).
Would any 7XXX users(even nicer if they are 7950/7970 users ) be able to run a game with GPU-Z (CCC will work as well, but gpu-z can log these things)open then jump onto an HD video on Youtube or toss on a DVD and check if this still happens?
