I'm not a techie. I have a good quad core processor and 3gb ram. I need help selecting a good cheap graphics card capable of running sufficiently on the Oculus Rift developer kit. Min. specs. etc. The makers recommend at least 60fps.(probably more achievable at low resolution settings)
Thanks in advance.

Thank you so much for your answer. You were right about the current resolution,
and their consumer model is expected to be 1920 by 1080. I have checked with Dell and the GTX 650ti will fit perfectly into my Inspiron 530 desktop. All sorted.
Excellent.

It says Delta Electronics Inc.
47hz-63hz
Model no. DPS-350VB
INPUT 100-127V~/ 10A 200-240V~/5A
OUTPUT +12A===/12A +12VB===/18A

Max Power +5V===/18A +5V AUX===/2A
350W +3.3V===/17A -12V===/0.8A
COMBINE POWER ON +12VA & 12VB total 300w max
+12A & 12VB 300W
COMBINE POWER ON +5V &+3.3V TOTAL 160W MAX
+5V & 3.3V 160W

I think I have all those figures are right.
That's the way the figures are arranged on the sticker.
The Dell technician didn't have the min. dimensions required to fit the graphics card into the case, but barring bulky extra wiring, I think it should fit.
So will my PSU be good enough? If not any suggestions?
Thanks.

I just got a reply from the Oculus Rift team regarding PC specs. Here it is.

The minimum system requirements are as follows:

1. Windows XP SP3, Vista, 7, and 8
2. A 2.0+ GHz processor
3. 2 GB system RAM
4. Shader Model 3.0-compatible video card

Also, it's the game developers who will determine what each individual
game's requirements are.

Your graphics card also has to be able to run any Rift-Ready game at
60FPS running Stereoscopic 3d and Vsync enabled. Your graphics card also
needs a DVI or HDMI port.

My PC meets the first three requirements, but I know nothing about the shader model stuff, or the 60FPS running Stereoscopic 3d and Vsync enabled bit.
Any further help please?
Thanks.

When running on a 3d monitor they run at 120hz when in 3d mode it gets halved to 60hz in order to display in 3d. At the lower resolution you should be ok I would think with that card. What they most likely mean for the vsync I am thinking is that with adaptive vsync it will restrict the fps so that if the gpu shows more fps than the screen can handle it will restrict it from going over and causing screen tearing which is quite unpleasant to game with. Someone else correct me if i'm wrong.
