Hello,

Can you help me a liitle, please? I need to build a new computer, but I'm really in need of help for that, my pc is a gaming pc, but now I need to use it to work too.
I'll be working with Revit Architecture, 3D Studio Max, V-Ray, Lumion, Photoshop. I'll work with heavy architectural projects, heavy rendering for these projetcs and also I'll work with scenarios artworks for games and movies. I know that I'll need like 32g RAM to run Revit properly and also a powerfull processor, and a professional graphic card for the rendering and the artworks.

My current PC is:

i7 2700k
8gb RAM
Geforce GTX 560
1T HD
700W powersupply
ASUS motherboard (1155)

My idea:

i7 3930k
32gb RAM
Nvidia Quadro 4000
New generation GTX (if possible)***
1T HD
700W powersupply
ASUS motherboard (2011)

What do you suggest?

***is it possible to use 2 graphic cards? One for gaming and one to work? I mean when I open my games they will use the gaming one and when I open my work programs they will use the Quadro.

Thanks for all the help and attention =)

Heres my take:

You can go with something like a 7990 or Titan. These GPU's are going to perform very close to the Quadro 4000.
As far as I am aware, you can't (or it would be difficult) to run 2 different graphics cards independently on the same MOBO. The 7990 will CRUSH in gaming and will go toe to toe with the Quadro 4000, and in the same price range, its a no brainer IMO.

Your current rig is fine. There's no reason to go with a 3930K if you already have a 2700K.

You can't run a Quaddro alongside a GTX without causing some serious system instability, it has to be one or the other. Depending on what motherboard you use, you can upgrade to 32GB of RAM and add a new video card without building a new system. Add a Fire Pro V7900 (the Quaddro 4000 is old, slow, expensive, and a major power hog). The newer Quaddro K5000 will cost you an arm and a leg if you decide to go with it.

So I'll need 2 systems? One to work and one to play? The 32GB of RAM is necessary because Revit use ALOT, my teacher said that once he opened 2 3D views of a building and it used 30GB. Thanks for the FirePro tip, I'll do that then.

So guys, I'll be fine if I go for?:

i7 2700k
ASUS motherboard
FirePro V7900**
32GB RAM
1T HD
700W powersupply

**also will I be able to play using a FirePro then? I heard the architecture is very diferent and the driver dont support games.

No you can play games using a Fire Pro. It's just a lot slower render times. This article will give you a good idea of how they stack up: http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/workstation-graphics-card-gaming,3425.html

No we use Revit where I work as well and I'm fully aware of how much of a resource hog that it is. I can definitely see where you would make use of X79 and if you want to you can get by just replacing the motherboard and CPU and not have to build a full system. You can definitely reuse a lot of stuff from your existing build.

Some friends said that workstation GPUs can't run games properly =/
