Hello

I'm looking for an Intel D865GLC motherboard. At first sight this board seems to be available from some vendors on the Net, but in overwhelming majority of cases it turns out to be a D865GLC-based Gateway version with handicapped features (sometimes severely handicapped).

I currently have one of such Gateway boards, which seems to be pretty close to the original. It is missing the rear fan connector, but at least has integrated video and gigabit Ethernet interface (some other versions I've seen didn't even have video). Intel's motherboard ID utility recognizes it as D865GLC, yet Intel's BIOS updater refuses to flash Intel's BIOS over the current Gateway's version.

Hence I have a couple of questions I hope someone can answer

1. One of the annoying peculiarities of Gateway's version of the BIOS is that they remove chipset config menu from BIOS setup and cap memory frequency at 333, while the motherboard is supposed to support up to DDR400. The board recognizes the memory as DDR400, but keeps running it at 333. There's seems to be no way to adjust the frequency manually. Is there some way to actually make the board to run DDR400 memory as DDR400?

2. Is there a way to forcefully install Intel's BIOS to that motherboard? And if so, does it make sense? Has anyone tried? I wonder what the chances are of it working.

3. Does anyone know a reliable place where I can actually purchase a genuine fully-functional Intel D865GLC motherboard? By "reliable" I mean a place where they understand what it is they are actually selling.

Thank you,
Andrey.

Well, the problem is that sellers often advertise the board as Intel D865GLC, but in reality it turns out to be a handicapped Gateway board. The one I mention above was bought from Upgradebay.com and was also advertised as Intel D865GLC.
