Hi guys,
I hope everything goes well with you, although it did not went well for me :(
My stick memory works fine until yesterday which suddenly closed. I have really important data which I need them. I search a lot , no luck, and I hope someone help me on this issue here,

I tried ubuntu, Mac and windows 7 to open it but non of them was able to detect my usb. I am using ubuntu and other usb works fine, but it was not able detect this one, consequently it must be something wrong with my usb.

please kindly see what I did based on searching different forums,

1: (my usb is plugged in)

:sudo lsusb

Hopefully this will make your day better. Install Testdisk in Ubuntu. Open a terminal and type sudo testdisk. Press enter for Create a new log file. If there is any hope for you you will see your flash listed in the next screen. Select it and press enter. Press enter again on the next screen to select Intel/PC partition. Press enter yet again to analyse. Again press enter for quick search. If you see you partition (probably a FAT32) then press P to list files. If you don't see it do a deeper search by pressing yet again enter. You should see you folders and files listed. a selects all the files and folders. c copies the one(s) that are selected. When you press c you will be asked where to copy to, copy away to your hard drive.

Sadly, flash drives do have a life span, sometimes the good die young. Anyway, at least now you have testdisk. I've used it to recover files from a hard drive where the owner didn't know that if he did a recovery Windows install he'd lose everything, including his Ubuntu partition. Got back nearly everything.
