sata 3 2TB hdd detection and compatibility

hello guys

im using a gigabyte MA790GP-UD4H motherboard which has sata 2 ports. now im in need of more storage and i would have some suggestions about reliable but affordable 7200rpm drives. one of my friend told me that some motherboards has a problem in detecting hdd with a capacity of 2TB or more. will my motherboard be able to detect a 2TB hdd and is the sata 3 hdd compatible with the sata 2 ports on my motherboard.

thanks in advance

SATA 3 is backwards compatible with 2 and 1, so thats not a problem. The motherboard does support large HDD's, just make sure your BIOS is running the latest revision.
