One Man :
This week i am going to build my pc and i want to use 2 SSDs an OCZ vector 512GB for gaming and a samsung 256GB for windows 7 boot up Also a 3Tb HDD. but i have been hearing that you can't decide where your games and other things are installed. and to use the SSds as the primary drive or secondary drive? / How?
Hi
Interesting idea you have - you gonna have enough performance even with just one SSD
The SSD drives act like standart one just they have lower space and high price
You CAN use it like primary - OS boot from SSD
You CAN move all you User Profile data to second standart HDD - MyDocuments , Downloads etc.
You CAN decide where to install you games & apps - since win 98 till Win 8
If you planning to go for 3 x SSD - correct ?
Then if im` in you shoes i`ll go for :
Good Mobo - 4 or more SATA3 ports
- second group of 4 SATA3 ports but with RAID 0,1 support (second controller chip)
I`ll connect 2 x 512 SSD in RAID 0
- you have 1024 GB drive for OS and GAMES - that`s how you not gonna bother where to install you game and etc.
- you have 2 x SSD performance - as far i know RAID 0 of SSD almost double the performance
I`ll connect the 3 TB in other SATA3 ports - not raid one
- there you can store ALL you data - games IMG , movies , downloads etc
The spare 256 SSD i`ll will simply skip ordering this one
- you gonna be OK even with one 512 SSD and you have 2 - this one is not nesasery
- you can add it and use it if you like also for games install destination
There are other ideas i have but they are complicated one.
Go simple 1 x 512 SSD or 2 x 512 in RAID 0 and standart 3TB for data storage
