Can I fry the motherboard?

Solution
I know it's an old post but it shows as first result in Google for this kind of question.

However just for the record I'd like to mention that I forgot to add the cabinet screws, so that my motherboard touched the cabinet. While I couldn't start the computer, after I added the screws, I could start it without problems.

Meaning that it doesn't automatically fry the motherboard as many suggests.

if you use the mother board riser nuts and then screw the board on top it will be fine, you cant directly screw a motherboard on the case/chassis the back side of the motherboard shouldn't touch the metal case.

Also best to use anti-static gloves when you handle pc parts or you can ground yourself.

First fit these to the chasiss and then on top of these screw the board.
