Hey guys I'm building my first gaming computer and here are the parts I have so far. EVGA Superclocked Geforce GTX 660, Corsair HX750, and Ripjaws X Series 16gb ddr3 ram, and of course the AMD FX-6300. What motherboard would you recommend for th FX-6300? Would the ASUS Sabertooth Z77 be a good fit?

The Asus Sabertooth Z77 is an Intel motherboard and will not work with an FX6300. An Asus Sabertooth 990FX R2.0 is a board that will work and is quite good. I have the Sabertooth 990FX and had a FX6300 at 5Ghz using just a hyper 212 evo cooler.

As others have said, that Sabertooth Z77 is an Intel-only motherboard (as are all other Z77, H77, B75, Z68, etc motherboards). The 990X and 990FX are two AMD chipsets that you'll probably want to stick to - this is a very good database for AMD motherboards, if you're wanting to look further, though the Sabertooth 990FX is a great mobo (as ish416 said).

Unrelated to the motherboard, though, for a gaming build I'd advise you to stick to 8GB of RAM and a lower-power PSU (for the sake of cost-efficiency) - if you have no plans for SLI, you could get something like a Seasonic M12II 520 or Seasonic SSR-550RM, both of which are highly reliable and modular (like the HX750).

I previously chose an intel processor so that's why I aske the Z77.

So with your setup how did you do your visual? Never been a big pc guy. I know a bit, but not everything. But I definitely do know I AM going to build my own gaming computer. So all advice/tips/information is appreciated.

OP already has the following parts "EVGA Superclocked Geforce GTX 660, Corsair HX750, and Ripjaws X Series 16gb ddr3 ram, and of course the AMD FX-6300."

As for the motherboard, as I said before, the Asus 990FX Sabertooth R2.0 is a great board. Really, all of the 990fx boards (Asus, Asrock, MSI, Biostar, Gigabyte) should perform very well. The Asus M5A97 R2.0 is also a great "budget" board.

Hey I was wondering how that build worked out for you? ( ASUS Sabertooth 990FX and FX 6300 95W) I'm building the same thing and was curious.
