I want to replace a 6yo Alienware system. It was great for its time but now, my daughter needs power to handle working on 3D computer animations using Maya from Autodesk. She also uses the entire Adobe suite (Photoshop, After Effects, Illustrator). We also want it to continue to be our "big" gaming rig so it needs power for that.

Please advise and we would really appreciate it. We would like to keep the cost down to $1,500.

Thanks in advance.

Thank you for your recommendation Yasser. I should mention that I do not need a monitor. I *do* need a new OS (we have XP!) so I am glad you recommended an OS. I do like NVidia rather than ATI. I also prefer more memory as I would think that would help my daughter's use of Maya. I am a bit worried about a small primary HD even though it is SSD (which I have no experience with). I currently have a 1T primary and a couple of smaller internal drives in the Alienware. I also have no idea whether air-cooled or liquid-cooled is better. I don't intend to overclock. I wouldn't know how to do that anyway!

ok ...
subtract anything you don't need, But keep SSD because it's the future of builds and will add A LOT of rapidness to your PC performance .
RADEON 7970 is much much faster than nvidia gtx680 for example, especially w/core i7-3770k

read the chart and you'll get my point

16gb of 1600MHz ram is enough for years to come

Liquid cooling is better when you plan to OC, if you don't the CM 212 EVO will be MUCH enough for you
