I am going to build my own gaming computer and am wondering How the Motherboard, graphics card, ram, processor, and hard drive all connect to each other? And how would you connect a monitor to it? I know some stuff, but not all. So all advice and info is appreciated!

First of all, you would need to understand that each generation usually has a different chip socket. From there, you would have to find a suitable motherboard and the memory as well. Graphics cards are now PCIexpress slots and then monitor connection would be HDMI or dvi/vga. If I were you I would study hard on this stuff before starting on your system! Things move fast here and some people have a hard time keeping up with new technology and terms. Good luck!

I'm wondering how the monitor connects via the hdmi or dvi. Would it go to the motherboard or graphics card?

Well it would go to the graphics card. However, some motherboards have something called integrated graphics but don't worry about that, most likely that would NOT have HDMI. Another thing to know is that if you have an HD TV, you can use the HDMI out and use it as a monitor (that is, if your graphics card has an HDMI port); although refresh rates might not be as good as a desktop monitor, but that's a whole 'nother story. Good luck!

So wouldn't I want to make a hub on the back of the computer where all the cables plug in and have ports on the outside? What would I search to find those? And I know about the hdmi out and refresh rates and all. I'm decently techy! Thanks for all the help. GREATLY appreciated.
