PCE-N15 wireless networking issues.

I installed an ASUS PCE-N15 wireless network adapter in my Win 7 PC. As soon as I booted up windows "saw" the new hardware. I installed the wireless utility and updated drivers. However, when I open the utility it states unconnected. The adapter shows up in device manager but will not see any wireless networks. This is the 3rd wireless adapter I have used, the two other were Rosewill USB adapters and ALL have the same issue. I am a novice at this so I am not sure what my next steps are to fix this problem. Prior to using the updated drivers and utility when I clicked on the utility icon I got the message " Wireless card is taken apart from your computer". Any help would be GREATLY appriciated.

If you've installed three different wireless adapters, and all the drivers and utilities installed successfully (apparently), and none have ever displayed any available wireless networks (open or secured), that is indeed weird (assuming you know for a FACT a compatible wireless AP is within range). Have you tried any of these wireless adapters on other machines, perhaps a laptop, with success? It would be nice to know if this is only a problem w/ that machine (the fact you tried three different wireless adapters would suggest it is, but I’d still like to be sure). Is the wireless AP you intend to use your own? How far away is it? Are you able to connect to this same AP from any other wireless devices?

My D-link Router is right next to the PC. My Android phone can see that network and several others. I can connect to my wireless network with my phone. The previous USB adapter that worked was damaged so I had to replace it. Thus began the tale I have told of my issues so far. The only difference is that the new USB and PCE adapters have 802.11 n in addition to g. My router is a D-link N300.

PS. When I run an adapter check through windows is shows that there is an issue with the driver. When I initially installed the adapter windows recognized it but was unable to install a driver. I used (and then updated) the utility and driver from the ASUS and Realtek sites respectively.
