Resolution drops off when adding DVI splitter

I want to clone my screen to two monitors - not extend, etc...just an exact copy.

The two monitors are both widescreen and individually will run fairly high resolution. I've connected them both via a DVI splitter, though (this one - http://ca.startech.com/Cables/Audio-Video/DVI-Cables/1-ft-DVI-D-to-2x-DVI-D-Digital-Video-Splitter-Cable-M-F~DVISPL1DD), and suddenly the only res options are 800x600 or 1024x768. Running Windows 7, a Quadro FX 4500 video card, and OS and all drivers are up to date. I've tried both the Windows and the nVidia driver.

Does anyone have any thoughts as to how I can get a decent resolution?

Thank you!

I never seem to be available when their line is open. I've sent an email to support but waiting to hear back.

The second output is being used for a different monitor. Basically, on my desk I have two monitors - one from each output, and so the desktop extended to both. However, I'm putting another monitor on the wall to my left for when I want to work standing up, and I want to clone my primary monitor out to that one.
