How to get more frames with older games (GTX 670)

I know that the GTX 670 uses less power for older games. I was wondering if there was a way for the card to use more power on an older game to get more frames for recording and such. Is there a way to do this without overclocking?

I personally don't know how well it works but once you put more load to the card it should "upclock" correct word? itself. The whole idea is to save energy and shouldn't hinder you.If you try to speed the game up say an emulator for example your gpu might actually start using its full potential because the need arose.

If the game itself doesn't limit the frame rate, then speeding up the CPU might help. Even today, Higher clocks will outweigh more cores for a lot of games. Depending on how OLD you mean, most games don't benefit from more cores at all past 2. Stuff like emulators, games through the early 2000's like Core speed more than core count. the 670 will go as fast as the CPU can feed it data, up to (the GPU's) limits of course.

Ther than that go into the game and disable vsync if you have it on, but this might cause graphical glitches, so you'll just have to see.

Games such as Gmod 13 or Killing Floor. I noticed no matter what my graphics are set to in Killing Floor, the frames stay the same with maybe a drop of 5 frames the most maxed out.

IDK if those games are "capped or frame limited. If your FPS never goes above 60 with vsync off, then they probably are capped. Vsync will capp stuff at your monitors refresh rate a lot of times. Most game engine caps are 60 and some unusual ones 30.

I have everything in performance mode and I've never heard of games being capped at 30- 60 with V sync off. I know games like Counter Strike cap out at around 300 fps for me though.
