I am having Compaq Presario SG3745IL for past 4 years. Time to upgrade... but now when I started searching for processor for the motherboard(http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?cc=us&lc=en...) I am not sure for the socket type plus TDP threshhold to match.
Kindly help with list of processor in AMD Phenom II X4 series.
Also I read from previous forum about bios update to make socket AM3 work on AM2 chipset. If its possible provide this as well.

Thanks :)

I would suggest you to upgrade all the PC. That system is slow. Better save more and get a better system maybe a LGA1155 one :)

AMD only made 2 Phenom II X4 CPU's for AM2+, 920 and 940, both were 125watt which exceeds the boards capability. I as well suggest upgrading the whole thing.

Agreed. I had the Narra6 board and ran a 955 on it, it only took a few months for the VRM to blow completely. You can pick up a baseline AM3+ Motherboard and an FX4300 for sub $200.
