After spending all day transferring files between harddrives my computer is ow saying I need to format my wd drive before use? I don't want to lose all of my movies on it. My laptop is no longer showing the hard drive either? I am not terribly computer savy so a step by step basic response would be great :)

Firstly, do not format this hard drive before you’ve copied off all your needed movies, for the formatting process may damage your data.
Secondly, opt for an efficient data recovery tool to regain your inner moves on this drive. There are plenty of data recovery tools online. But, not all of them can completely restore all your movies back. You should pay much attention to select a right one. Google “data recovery software” over the internet and make your own decision after doing some researching.
Thirdly, follow the instruction of this data recovery software to retrieve your inaccessible movies.
Fourthly, format this hard drive to return its normal use after successful data recovery.
In the future, you should never forget to back up all your important data on separate drives.

if this hard drive is an external WD. your gonna have a hard time, almost all external WD has an encryption. check to see if the drive is being seen as "unallocated space" Right click my computer>click manage>disk management, check there if the drive is seen as unallocated space or being seen at all , if it is you can do a file recovery. if not i would suggest goto an expert let him/her deal with it. it's much easier that way.
