Hi Guys,

I've recently built a new pc (or rather I have upgraded my old one).

My components - re-used components are marked:

CPU: Int Core i5-3570K 3400 1155 BOX
Mainboard: MSI Z77A-G43 Z77 RG SA
Cooler: be quiet! Shadow Rock PRO SR1
GPU: Gigabyte D5 X Geforce GTX650 Ti OC R
RAM: 16 GB Corsair Vengeance Low Profile (CML16GX3M4A1600C9B)
HDD: Samsung 1TB SAT2 HD103UJ (re-used)
SSD: Corsair Force 3 120GB (CSSD-F120GB3-BK) (re-used)
DVD: LG GDR-H30N 16x AT (re-used)
Case Fans: 2x Cooler Master 80mm Fan SAF-S84-E1 (re-used)

OLD PSU: Be Quiet Straight Power BQT E6-600W (Bought 2008)

---

I'm having constant Bluescreens since I upgraded my components.
Have exhausted all possibilities, up from Windows Reinstall, Updates deinstalled, new dribers, old drivers, new RAM.
Disconnected everything but the SSD (including all USB devices).
Have run several benchmark tests, including (Prime95, Memtest86, Fumark) for up to 24 hours each - all without errors.
Have also made sure to buy a RAM that is on the compatability list of my mainboard, aswell as the mainboard on the RAM list.

The only other thing I can test now is the PSU (thank god for amazon 30 day return service..). I dare not to think its the CPU or Mainboard...

But, this thread is not about bluescreen solving, but PSU.

---

What kind of PSU in terms of Power do I need for my Setup? I don't want to overclock, but I wanna use the I5 Turbo Boost setting.

I'm having my eyes on a Corsair TX SERIES 650WATT PSU 80+BRONZE, based on the threads here in the forums

650 Watts should be plenty, shouldn't it?

The reason I ask is, my old one has 600 Watts and it was fine in my old PC just 10 days ago. Does the new system need that much more power?

or is the PSU just old and therefore not really compatible anymore with the new hardware stuff and power layout and whatnot?

I'm not an experienced PC Expert - I have built my fare share of PCs, but nowadays things are just more complicated I guess.

Last time I built a PC was beginning of 2008 :)

Thanks guys!

EDIT:

I don't care about whether Its modular or not. I have a gigantic Coolermaster Cosmos case and no trouble fitting everything in.

I recommend the Corsair, I got it 3 years ago and it's great, didn't have any problems even with my overclock and power hungry video card. For your pc even a 500w psu should do just fine.

500W? Really? So its not possible that my current(old) PSU is not strong enough for my system?

Does anyone know if its maybe not compatible with the new hardware, electricity wise or something like that?

I maybe want to reuse my old one for my old hardware if it turns out to be the psu. But it would make things alot simplier for me if you experts already know that the psu is not really compatible for the new hardware. So it might not be broken after all, if you know what I mean!

EDIT @ prototype 18: No, I'm not planning on upgrading GPU or anything. System has to last a few year from now on.

* you could comfortably get away with a 450W PSU, I doubt your system would ever draw more than 250-300W

* The TX650 is an excellent unit and although more than you need right now, would allow you to run any single card setup in the future should you wish to upgrade.

* Although your be quiet PSU isn't an excellent unit, it's not a bad one either. And 5 years is a while but as you're only running a 650ti you're not really asking much from it. So I would be hesitant to point the finger at the PSU at this stage. Can you swap parts with another PC? Or at least share what blue screen you are getting and when? Then perhaps someone may be able to help you to find the source of the issue
