BUT all 3 different cd's???

Hi,
It's not clear to me what you've actually done.

It sounds like you decided to replace the main hard drive that you currently own with a newer one. Your old drive will contain Windows and your programs.

You have to either:
a) CLONE the old drive to the new drive, or
b) Reinstall Windows, drivers, programs etc to the new drive.

Your best bet is to CLONE. You can Google for free cloning software but I don't want to talk too much in case this isn't even your issue.

Thanks for your reply.
i do not have the old one to clone..totally Dead, had 2 techies look at it :(
So...I bought a new HD...think i have installed correctly into PC....how do I know?
I have original Windows 7 disk, Original Gigabyte Express Recovery Cd and Have bootup recovery disks that came with PC when first bought (prob 5yrs +), there are 6 of them with all sorts of software. I am not concerned if I can not use them and just use Windows 7 and then load my Office after that etc
Any advice?

I have done this and I think that is why the drive is no longer jamming????
Still no success with loading anything from dvd drive :( have tried with and without hd plugged in and always booting from CD drive.

Message i currently have from booting from Xpress recovery 2 Gigabyte disk:
First tells me to insert disk and press any key...then i get this message" Using Drive 0, partition 0 ( but o with dot in the middle) does this mean not seeing HD???
Then says a read disk error has occurred
Press Ctrl+Alt+Del to restart....I get this message and the line above regardless of which disk i am trying to use?......

Thankyou for perservering with me! :)

I put in a Windows Office Cd in to see what would happen...same errors.
I have currently tried with Win 7 disk now, selecting the F12 as I always have been and selecting to boot up from CD
It has done the PCI devices listing, verifying the DMI pool data, then for a min or a few had Boot from CD/DVD: with the " - " flashing after it. I pressed nothing...waited...then disk error message came up again :(

Thanking for working with me on this :)

OK I am waiting for it to download and will then make up a CD and let you know how I go.
Cheers for that! :)

Then I would suspect a bad DVD drive or cable.

What if i am putting all the files from the 6 recovery disks onto the USB and choose that to boot from?
Can i copy Windows 7 onto the USB HD and boot from that?

Cheers,
Maria :)

If you have a Win7 CD, you can use that, with the instructions above, to create a bootable USB.

OK the instructions let me know how to boot from USB which I understand how to do in bios...BUT as far as putting files onto USB HD ...do I just copy and move files from Windows 7 onto HD via Windows Explorer?

I could also just put it onto a USB flash drive instead of HD??

Cheers,
Maria :)
