Good day. I have an i7 3770 on an H77 mobo. I want a cpu heatsink cheaper than the hyper evo which is still more efficient than a stock cooler. As you can see, since i have an i7 3770 (non-k), i wont do some cpu overclocking. I just want a cheaper and efficient cpu air cooler that i can replace the fans with 2x Deepcool UF120 120mm fans to match the white-blue color of my rig.

Newegg is actually doing a sale on the Hyper 212 that takes $10 off the normal $30

Well the thing is that the 212 is the best cooler for its price.

im pretty sure about that... thank you btw... but i need other than a hyper 212. i dont want to ruin it's reputation by replacing its fan with Deepcool UF120. That's why i need something new so i can experiment with it :D

You won't ruin it's reputation by swapping out the fans on a hyper 212. Most people swap out the fans on it anyways.

The reason it's always recommended is because it is simply the best cooler for the price and, that price is fairly cheap.

Here are some of it's more expensive, similar performing alternatives.

Thermaltake Frio - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835106150

Xigmatek Thor's Hammer - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835233032

Tuniq Tower 120 - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835154011

All of these perform the same or slightly worse than the much cheaper 212 at nearly double the cost.

Thank you for the time giving these links. i really appreciate it. Only the Frio is available in our area...and its pretty much the same in price here.

I really do believe changing the fan of an aftermarket heatsink will somehow affect its performance depending on the type of the added fan...but maybe in a very slight difference. Fans do matter. :D

Thank you so much bart...Considered deepcool as well...Gammaxx 400 is a very good cooler knowing it outperform the TX3 and Havik 140, but the only thing that keep me from it is its push-pin installation. Frostwin is too large... Xigmatech is very hard to find...

The Gammaxx 400 is a good cooler for the price.
I believe the mounting system should be able to hold the cooler in place.

If you're on a SUPER tight budget, and you have a box fan and a cardboard box lying around.... I actually created a casing out of a box, and used duct tape to add little fins to direct the airflow to the CPU/GPU... then I just left my case open and attached the box/fan (with more duct tape lol).
When I would do intense computing/graphics tasks, I would turn the fan on and my GPU would drop from 85C+ to 60-65C (playing Far Cry 3 @ 1920 x 1080 Ultra settings).

I admit this technique is VERY redneck, but hey, haters gonna hate and it worked GREAT for me until I was able to purchase the cooling system of my dreams ;) I even painted the box and did a bunch of custom graphics to make it look really cool.

Of course changing fans makes a difference. Many people buy heatsinks, computer cases etc.. and promptly swap in better fans.
