I am building a gaming PC and am choosing between these options:

Which would you go for and why?

Intel core i5 3570k Ivy Bridge (overclocked Up To 4.40GHz Per core)
+
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 680 2GB

or

Intel Core i7 3820 Quad Core (2011, 3.60GHz, 10mb Cache)
+
ATI HD 7890 2GB (overclocked)

or

Intel Core i7 3770k Ivy Bridge (3.50GHz, 8MB Cache)
+
ATI HD 7890 2GB (overclocked)

All will have 16GB DDR3 RAM.

Thanks.

Best combo out of the three.

Core i7 3770k has a boost 3.9GHz and can be clocked upto 4.5GHz and latest games eg. crysis 3 likes hyperthreading cpu's it has been well optimized so will give good performance with the minimum of threading overheads. next year we may see a step change in gaming where hyperthreaded cpu's will become beneficial they previously were not.

I would still go for the 3570k combo for gaming but I dont want a lesser GPU like GTX660 compared to the 7890 which is 15% faster. Thanks

UPDATE:

now that OP has updated the chart with out any doubt the best gaming combo is :

Intel core i5 3570k Ivy Bridge (overclocked Up To 4.40GHz Per core)
+
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 680 2GB

THANKS

i5-3570k + Radeon 7970

Because you dont need an i7 for gaming, no games really use hyperthreading.
The 7970 over the 680 because with the past few driver updates, the 7970 has outperformed the 680.

Can't have that option as I'm using a company to build the PC. They have PC builds and you customize the options what are selectable.

I agree with Dalmverm. The difference between the 3570k and 3770k is barely noticeable in most games. Buy the i5, overclock it as fast as you possibly can and sink as much cash in to a video card as possible.

Generally you'd only switch to 2011 if you needed extra PCI-E lanes for something, specifically something like Tri-SLI/Crossfire. Another possibility is you wanted the 6 core because you have some work that threads well . . . games generally don't.

The Intel Core i7 3820 is slightly faster though? at 3.60 compared to the i7 3770K of 3.50Ghz.

I suppose if that is the case, the GTX 680 works just as well.

I don't intend to do any overclocking myself as i've never tried it before and would probably blow my PC up in the process. The Intel core i5 option has already been overclocked though and the Geforce GTX 680 that it comes with is supposed to be a slighty superior card than the ATI HD 7870.

If you aren't going to OC yourself then the pre OC'd 3570k is by far the best choice.
