usb drive that says needs to be formatted

i was trying to format my hard disk using command prompt, but accidentally, the cable wire was removed, and progress was not completed. and now the hard disk is showing error to format it. I dont want to format it now. How to safely get back my data and prevent it from formatting.

The rudely extracting an USB drive often can cause some damage to it especially as it is in use. Therefore, next time, you should be much more careful.
However, since you cannot straightly format it for the inner data, you could first download data recovery software and format this drive afterwards. The data recovery software often can help rescue the inaccessible data after accidentally deletion or formatting. And the formatting process after data recovery could help the drive work well again.
