xbox hdmi/surround sound issue

I just purchased the pioneer hts-gs1 for my xbox 360 slim. I already have an hdmi cord but how do i hook up the optical cable so i get 5.1 sound???? The av cable that came with my xbox doesnt have a optical connection. please help.

Hmmm... new to this and may have answered my own question. I did just look up the spdif that is in the back of the xbox.. is that where i plug in the optical cord from surround sound?!?!?!
