I am planning on throwing my old crappy PC away and starting all over. I have a rather large budget and have an idea on what im looking for. Please give me recommendations and ideas on maybe changing some stuff or maybe adding something.

Not sure if you came here to gloat or what lol. With that budget buy what ever the hell you want (can't go wrong more or less). I'll have your old computer please (as seeing this one it's still prob very, very capable.)

IPS monitors are for photographers. Because of input lag, they aren't the greatest for gaming.

With one titan, you're better of with 3 1080p 3D 120Hz monitors. If you're going to be playing multi-player FPS games, you'll want to go with a 120Hz TN monitor anyhow. I would actually go with a single 690 or two 680s (either option is the same price as or costs less than a single Titan) to drive these monitors because they'll provide better performance than the single Titan. Pick up a third 680 or a second 690 as necessary.

Get three Acer HN247H monitors with 3D glasses. These monitors are great to run in 2D at 120Hz. You never notice tearing of any sort with these. Plus you can run 3D when you want to.

Everything else looks pretty awesome. I think anyone would like to have these funds at their disposal for a big bad gaming machine.

What do you think the Corsair Force Series GS 480GB 2.5" Solid State Disk is in the build? Also, if this build isn't going to consume more than 500W, what exactly is the point of a 1050W PSU?

I agree. Even two 690s can run on the poster's chosen 860W PSU.

Yeah I was wondering the same thing. You could probably pay 1/3 of the proposed budget and still buy a PC with everything you need. Paying $200 for a sound card and then getting crappy Logitech speakers - you're literally throwing money away at this point. Get a set of Audioengine A5's for 1/2 the cost and they will perform way better than any Logitech product you can buy. You also don't need the extra thermal compound (again waste of money), and the case and motherboard are being overpaid as well.

The A5s are good two channel stereo speakers, but how would you propose someone could achieve a 5.1 surround setup with them? And why not go with straight reference speakers like Rokit 5s or 6s at that point.

Then maybe add an extra set.

If i can actually pull this through and get this monster together i will post many pictures. Might take a while lol. i got about half the money saved up but im thinking about cutting the budget just a little. Probably down to about $3-4 thousand so i can get it soon and save a little money on the side.

7950s were available in 2006? :heink:

But yeah nostalgia can be funny, not too long ago I found a receipt for a computer I bought in 1999 - it had a 200MHz CPU, 512GB of RAM, and a 30GB hard drive, and it was $1K.

I like the one poster who said that the OP was going to be paying for that machine for several years. It's 2013 now. So using a straight line depreciation with a salvage value of $400: $6500 - $400 / 7 = $871/ year. $6500 - $6097 = $403. That machine is worth $403 now. And he's probably paying 23% interest on it.
