Which monitor to get for 3 screen eyefinity?

I'm going to buy 3 monitors and set up eyefinity on one 7970 HD. I want to play games on higher settings and browse the web with it.

I'd really like a monitor with a thin bezel(no black line around the screen), 23-24" size prefered.

The budget is 200-250€ per monitor.

I've looked at Dell UltraSharp U2412M (http://www.amazon.com/Dell-UltraSharp-U2412M-LED-Monitor/dp/B005JN9310), but it's a bit expensive and I don't know how thick the bezel is. If you recommend this monitor for eyefinity I'll take it, otherwise please post some alternatives! :wahoo:
EDIT: U2412M has a display port built in, but I don't know if it will work if I connect it directly to the graphics card, can somebody please clarify this for me?

I'm running Eyefinity as well, but I'm operating on a much smaller budget than you so I don't know if I can weigh in on the exact choice of monitor, but I will say that there are ways with dealing with the bezels. One trick I found out somewhere was to have the middle monitor set slightly behind the side monitors, and have the side monitor bezels overlap the middle monitor bezels. This way you're only seeing one bezel between each screen, and not two!

It sounds simple, but I think it can make a world of a difference when choosing 3 monitors to pick up in one shot.

Yeah, I saw that trick on some forum, but it kinda looked ugly if the monitors aren't really slim, and the angles seem weird. If it's possible to get a monitor with a bezel around 10-15mm thick, I would much rather go for that. I'm thankful for the suggestion though!

Hi Xickle. I run 3 monitor eyefinity off one 7950 with 3xU2412Ms. I gotta drop the settings down in demanding games, but I don't mind. The bezels aren't the smallest and I can understand you wanting to look elsewhere. I got them on a crazy special, wanted the option to rotate and the 16:10 ratio for productivity, so it made sense for me.
All AMD cards will only have 2 non displayport outputs as this is all they're able to drive. All monitors beyond the 2nd must be displayport or us active DP adapters. The dells work great using DP. Two of mine use mini DP to DP cables. No problems there.
I can recommend the dells and they work well. But if you're not interested in the benefits of an IPS display, portrait mode or 16:10, I'm sure you could find monitors with smaller bezels at a much lower price.

That is really some useful info! I really like the fact that the Dell has a 16:10 ratio instead of the very wide 16:9. It's also good that it requires no active DP adapters, which I found, are really expensive for an adapter. The only thing that would perhaps bother me is that the game graphics settings may have to be lowered due to bigger resolution. But that's more a graphics card problem... if I had a motherboard that properly supported x16 Crossfire I'd get two cards in the future. Also, could you measure the bezel width of the screen and post it here? I'd really like something to compare with when I browse for monitors, or perhaps look at any future suggestions here.

Oh nevermind then haha! The bezel specs are kinda hard to get... sadly no online store gives that important detail :/


Thanks for the suggestion man, but seems like it's an old list, since almost no 23-24" monitor listed there is still for sale.

Get 3x Samsung S23A700Ds, its a 23" screen with a 2ms response time and 120Hz which supports 3D but I use it mainly just for the 120Hz. The bezels are incredibly thin and the colours are very accurate in my experience and there is a lot of detail and 'pop' to the screen and it looks awesome.

Looks like an awesome monitor, but with that price around 350€ it's way over my budget xD
Also, it looks like they're hard to buy these days

I managed to find B stocks of them online for £200 which is about the same in euros now I think, and there was no damage with the monitor or glasses. But yeah, availability is an issue these days.

That's a nice price! I'd think about buying them if they were still available.
However from what I've seen these days, a low end IPS panel is said to be better than a higher end TN panel. Even in most games, with the exception of fast First-person shooter games. And I'm not sure if I'd be reaching 120FPS on the 3 monitors because the graphics card can't run so well on such a resolution.
