Laptop does not detect home network

I've been having trouble with my laptop's internet connectivity for the past two months. Everything was working just fine one day, but the next, when I turned it on, it did not automatically connect to the internet. When I tried to manually connect to a network, I found my home network was inexplicably missing from my list of available networks. I'm definitely in range of my router, so that's not the problem.

I've tried manually creating a new profile for my network in the network and sharing centre, correctly entering the SSID and password. That did not work. I've checked to see if the wifi of my notebook is on, and it is. I've tried switching it off and on, but to no avail. I've uninstalled and re-installed the network card. I've tried turning my router off and on. I've checked the box in the network properties dialog that says 'Connect even if network is not broadcasting SSID'. I've updated my driver software after connecting to the net using an Ethernet cable. I've updated my antivirus and run a full computer scan, which came up clean. None of this is working. For some reason, my home network simply does not show up on my list of networks, even though others are showing up just fine.

This isn't the first time this is happening to me, but normally the issue resolves itself within a couple of days at most after I switch my computer's wifi switch off and on a few times and create a new network profile for my existing network. That hasn't worked this time. When I click 'see full map' at the top of the Network and Sharing Centre, the computer tells me the adapter is not connected. When I troubleshoot, it tells me that I've not connected to a network! In the 'Network Connections' tab, there's a red cross against 'Wireless Network Connection', and below that, it says 'not connected'. My Wifi card is 802.11bgn Mini Card Wireless Adapter.

I've scoured the net for info, and have tried just about every suggestion apart from replacing my network card. I'm at wit's end; it's very frustrating to have to use an Ethernet cable every time. So help, please! I would seriously appreciate it.

Probably irrelevant to the problem, but I have an MSI U230 Light notebook.

If you use a different laptop, does your home network show up in the list of available networks? If so, that indicates the problem lies with your original laptop and you might want to get a new wireless card for it.

@scout03: I'll try that asap and let you know.

@ktriebol: Yeah, it shows up on other laptops at home. Dang, I thought I wouldn't have to get a new wireless card because other networks show up just fine...

Thanks for replying, by the way!

This does seem sort of mysterious. Your network does not show up on your original laptop, but neighboring networks do. Meanwhile, Your network does show up when you use another laptop. I'm not sure if a new wireless card will fix your problem, but they are pretty cheap on eBay.

@ktirebol: Yeah, This has been bothering me for a really long time! I'll try getting a new network card, then; it really is the only thing I haven't tried so far.
By the way, the laptop can connect to other networks. Just tried that today.

then if you could connect to the other network i would check the internet settings for this computer starting with the network settings and the router also enable the ssid broadcast and see if in the wireless setting the mac address for this one on wi-fi is permit ,maybe you will also have to update the wireless card driver .
