Hi.

I got my Asus Zenbook UX32VD a few weeks ago, and now i wanna upgrade with a Samsung 840 Pro 256gb ssd. It obviously already have an hdd but also a 24gb ssd for cache. I'm planning on using the Samsung Data Migration tool since i don't have another windows installation. So what i want to know is basically how to do this upgrade? I mean what to do with the 24gb of ssd, and what about the preconfigured partitions on the hdd (system backup and so)? If someone could maybe guide me true this it would be really appreciated!

I'm sorry if this i a noob question, but i've really tried to figure this stuff out on my own, but honestly i'm just lost. So please help me, if you would be so kind. Thanks :)

I have the same laptop, and I also upgraded to a Samsung 840 [not pro] SSD. Here's how I did it.

Found a torrent of Windows 8 x64 - an original MSDN torrent not modification, cracks, whatever extra.
Googled directions on how to make a bootable USB key to install.
Pull out the HDD, put in the SSD. I threw in 8GB of RAM too, because I don't want to open the case again and it was $40. Windows 8 uses 4gigs of RAM if you're using Office + Chrome + a few other things, so more RAM is a good idea.
Boot up, F2 to go to...

Okay let's say i've cloned the c drive and put the ssd in. What will happen with the 24gb ssd? Will i have to disable something to stop the caching, or will it just automaticly stop when i'm switching from hdd to ssd?

Boot up, F2 to go to BIOS, specify that you want to boot from USB. Install windows (maybe partition the drive so you can re install later without losing data). The cool thing is the product key is stored in the BIOS so it will not ask for it, it just works. If you want to record it just in case before reformatting, just Google it, there are several utilities that will allow you to retrieve your key from Windows 8. I then installed all the graphics drivers/sound etc. from the Asus site, I left out all the utilities I didn't want.

I left the internal SSD alone - it won't do caching unless you explicitly tell it by installing the correct utility. You could reformat it and use it for another OS or storage I guess, but I haven't done this yet.

Enjoy the 12 second start up from cold.
