Just got my new SSD in the mail ;D and I'm not sure if I have to do anything before putting it in. I have a P8Z77-V motherboard. Do I just plug it into the motherboard than start it up and it's there? Or do I have to do stuff after its plugged in. I want it to be part of the first SSD I have.

Please answer I'm eager to download more games :p

Just plug it in like you would any other HDD. plug it into the motherboard and connect it to the power supply. Turn it on, and install windows (if you are using it as your boot drive). If you are using it as a secondary drive, it will be like any other HDD. The only difference is you will need to install the drivers that came with it to have it run optimally.

Yes windows has already been installed and I'm just adding this drive. I'm wondering if I have to do anything in the bios. And if I've already installed windows I should install the drivers that came with this SSD?

Your motherboard has 4 SATA 6Gb/s ports.
Make sure your SSD is connected to one of the Intel 6Gb/s ports (SATA6G_1 or SATA6G_2).

In BIOS make sure that the port your SSD is connected to is in AHCI mode.

Yes, install your motherboard drivers after you've installed Windows.

Yes, you should still install the drivers. The only thing that needs to be done is BIOS is to make sure the port it is plugged into is running on ACHI mode, not IDE mode.

What kind of SSD did you get? I would recommend using the SSD as your boot drive as it will give you increased performance. Some SSD's come with the software to "clone" the drive so you can boot from it as your main drive.
