New mobo, now power button doesn't work

My last thread was http://www.tomshardware.com/answers/id-1636611/custom-build-work.html#10566994

I RMA'd the motherboard, along with apparently 20 or so other people who bought it during the sale. Newegg was awesome and got me a prepaid label, no fuss, RMA was approved 1 day after it arrived and money was back in 2 days later.

So I order a new motherboard and ... now my power button will not work. At all. Period. Press it and nothing turns on. It was working before when I used the other motherboard (which wouldn't read RAM so had to be RMA'd). I can short it with a screwdriver on the pins and it powers up, but I would rather not have that be my main way of turning it on (and no idea how to turn it off without flipping the power switch on the PSU?). Of course, the new mobo doesn't support my 8350 unless I update BIOS, which I am working on with my phenom, yay for having to have both computers in pieces.

Is there any hope for fixing the power button, or should I just eat the $49 and buy a new case? There is no damage to the wire as far as I can tell. I doubt the screwdriver trick is good for the computer.

I swear this build will drive me insane.

Solution
Sorry it took so long to respond, but I just got it settled today!

Sent Rosewill an email and they sent me a free replacement of the power button, through neweggs warehouse. Was sent snail mail so it took a while to get here, but plugged it in and it works perfectly now. They didn't try to even argue about it, they just apologized and sent the request right over to the warehouse for the part. Came 7 day mail so took a bit, but it was free, so I won't complain. Now my build is finally complete!

Certainly not the hassle free first build I was hoping for, but I learned a lot. Thanks all for the replies. : )
Can you rma the case?? If not and if you have soldering skills you could just get a new switch at an electronics store like radio shack. It is most likely just a simple push button switch. Either take your old one with you or take a pic or if it has a part number write it down when you try to find a new one. Hope this helps. If it does don't for get to use the "Pick best solution" button so others know what worked for you and that you have found your answer.

Good call I did that once when I was much younger on a K6-266 System I built for myself, I wasn't very clear about what was pin1 on the motherboard and what was pin1 on the power switch connector and after an hour switched it around and it worked fine...

It's a rosewill challenger gaming ATX case. I will try your guys suggestions tomorrow and see if anything works, just spent 4 hours on getting BIOS updated/drivers in etc. If nothing else, maybe I can get them to give me a new power button, wasn't sure if case makers did that. Never had anything faulty in a case before. I double and triple checked the where it was and the screwdriver on the two pin works so I know it's the power connector, but I didn't think it'd even go in the other way like the rest of the wires won't, but I will try turning it around. :)

For now I am just not turning it off to avoid using the screwdriver. Got the BIOS updated with my Phenom so it reads the FX-8350 and got the new OS installed fine. So it's working perfectly, except for the inability to turn it on with the button. Yay!

And unfortunately, I am past my 30 day mark on RMA for the case - I ordered the parts in batches and the motherboard took so long to sort out the first batch is past it's date. A week to get it here, 3 days spent trying to get it to work, then over a week to get it back to them, 3 days on the RMA, then ordering a new one and waiting for it to get here.

Boyfriend works with some people that might be able to fix it if we can't figure it out. If not, I guess a new case is in order.

Thanks for all the replies. I'll let you know if anything works tomorrow. :)
