I just upgraded my two year old Satellite L655-S5160 with an SSD. It originally had Win 7 but since I only have original disks for XP, I decided to load that rather than buy Windows 7 or 8. Plus it will permit me to use some existing software. Well, everything works great except the audio. I've tried every audio driver I can find but no joy. The audio appears to be Intel Display/HD audio but the Conexant drivers I found didn't work. Anyone have any suggestions? Or am I stuck with buying a copy of Win 7?

The other system components according to Speccy are:
Intel i3 380 Arrandale CPU
Intel Base Board PSK2CU-0Q201U
Havendale Chipset/Clarkdale Host Bridge
Intel i3/i5 Integrated HD Graphics
Intel Display Audio
Realtek RTL8188CE Wireless LAN

If I remember correctly MS office 2003 appeared to load on my laptop with Win 7 but the programs wouldn't run. So, no sitting on the sofa in front of the TV while I work at night.

Office 2003 will work just fine. As for the other software you could try compatibility mode or running them in a virtual machine since you have an XP disk and key.

XP is a very old operating system and Microsoft is discontinuing support as of April next year. XP and SSD aslo don't mix. I believe XP lacks the TRIM support to keep SSDs running well.
