I plan on getting the cpu/motherboard combo from microcenter (Intel Core i5 3570K 3.4GHz LGA 1155 and ASUS P8Z77-V LK LGA 1155 Z77 ATX Intel ). I hope this was the right choice.

I just bought a new 27" monitor so now I have to decide on a video card. Can you guys help me out? I don't know a whole lot about all the new hardware. I currently have a phenom II x4 925 and a radeon 6850. I have games like far cry 3, tomb raider, and dishonored that I haven't played yet. I'd really like to play modern games in ultra or maxed out settings.

I will be playing games in 1080p.

That's a perfectly good mobo cpu combo, though idk what microcentre's prices are like as I live in NZ.

As for a new gpu, going on what I've seen of US prices a 7970 would be the best option within your budget

This if you care about noise.
