My motherboard does not have 2 PCIe x16 slots but i want another graphics card for crossfire, i need to know whether using an adaptor will lower the performance of the new graphics card if i buy it. The motherboard supports crossfire.

The adaptor:

The adapter itself wont limit performance, but rather the bandwidth of the 1x slot will.

Dont bother TBH, chances are by doing this you will limit your performance to less than that of a single card.

The performance shouldnt be lowered but be sure to get the exact same gfx card that you have(same vendor, model and vram) otherwise you may have problems because of the bios. What motherboard do you have. Why not get a different one? And about the adapter, it seems to have some problems with newer motherboards but seems to work pretty well with older ones.

Sorry, but I've never heard of a motherboard that supports CrossfireX without two PCI-Ex16 slots. The only possibility is if the OP is confusing dual-graphics (APU+GPU) with Crossfire or Hybrid-Crossfire with a 780G/790G chipset and and HD2xxx/HD3xxx series discrete card.

If this is the case, then the adapter would not help in any.

CF will not work @ x16 x1... and even if it did, x1 slots are typically controlled by the chipset and the latency introduced would be unbearable.

Nevertheless, it won't work.
