GA-M770T-UD3P CMOS ISSUE - strange beep - wont boot

Greetings fellas,

For some time now I'm having this boot problem where instead of a single beep, I get what I would call a stuttering beep. It is not even countable as it goes like "b-b-beep!".

I found a workaround which consisted of clearing the CMOS (in absence of a proper jumper, currently doing it with a mini Kratos sword LOL).

Anyways, this would happen like once every month, but now is getting more and more frequent, plus I have to take multiple CLR_CMS attempts before the system boots up (not even counting on the hassle of setting the BIOS correctly again).

Oh, I've already tried updating the BIOS. Happened before it, continues happening after it.

Question: Is there any solution for my problem? Should I swap the battery? Or should I just throw this piece away and get a new one?

Thanks for your time and answers!

Hi alexoiu,

Thanks for your reply! I'll try a new battery. Regarding the minimum configuration, that would be a pain to test, as the issue occurs randomly, usually once every 2 weeks now (except yesterday when it happened twice).

What I cannot grasp is the reason of why and WHAT is happening to get the BIOS corrupted (which seems the most plausible reason, since simply clearing the CMOS would solve it, right?).

Nope, SATA HDD, recently changed. This was happening long before.

Update: I replaced the battery, however, the multimeter readings on both were almost the same ~320 for the new one and ~310 for older. After restarting the computer, the problem showed up again. It is getting harder to fix each time. To make work this time I had to unplug from AC for about 5 min before being able to perform a CLR_CMS.

Unless proved contrary, I believe the other components are 100%, or else I wouldn't be here writing this. What really bothers me is that strange beep. Next time it happens I'll try to record.
