Hey guys! I have been editing on this old Win XP computer for a while and it is annoyingly slow. So, I am gonna build a new one.

I have built before, but for gaming, not for video editing, so idk what is good or what is overkill.

My budget is $275. But I have:

-OS (WIN 7)
-Peripherals (monitors, mouse, etc)
-Power Supply (600W OCZ)
-Ram (4GB DDR3)

---------------------------------

I need a CPU, Motherboard, case, video card. I would normally do this myself, but like I said, I am new to video editing so IDK what is overkill or not. Thanks!

I will be using Camtasia Studio 8 and Power Director. RES: 1280x720 (720P HD)

In general for Video Editing you want more cores. However, Camtasia and Power Director don't seem well threaded in particular Camtasia appears capable of using only 2 cores. Are both your cores being used currently? FX-6/8 or a true quad core like Intel and Phenom II X4 would be best but even a Pentium G2020 would blow your machine away.

Here is a build but it won't game. You can fall back to a FX-6100 or Phenom II X4 965BE if you want a decent graphics card.

Are both cores used currently not correctly. Right-Click Taskbar and Open Task Manager. Click Performance Tab. If both your processors are near 100% then at least your software can use 2 cores and potentially 4 cores.

As long as you have 4GB total, Dual channel (ie 2x2GB or 2x4GB) is more important than amount. Both your programs are 32-bit programs so they can't use more than 2GB RAM in general anyway.
